Apologies if this is somewhere else, i just couldnt find anything similar...
Make and Model: HP Pavillion DV9288ea
Is it in warranty? Sadly, no
    Operating System: Win Vista SP2
CPU, RAM, GPU: Intel core 2 duo t5600 1.83ghz, 2GB ram, 512mb Nvidia Geforce Go 7600

Problem i'm having is a very blank screen... its not the "black screen of death" as i've been googling that and i dont seem to have the symptoms, ie screen blank after logging in to windows. I just cant see anything at any stage. Turn the laptop on, all the lights come on (all the control buttons at the top etc) and thats it. Nothing on the screen. I cant access the BIOS to try change the boot setting to CD, so i cant re-install windows. I tried Safe mode but still no display.
i plugged in a secondary monitor to the vga port, and it kind of displayed. by kind of i mean it was very jumbled and hard to see what was on the screen (bits of it are blank, others are jumbled pixels)
on the odd occasion, using the secondary monitor, i got a BSOD, talking about nvlddmkm.sys causing an error. Googled that and turns out its a common driver issue. So when i could almost see, i uninstalled the drivers, and installed new ones from the Nvidia site. No joy.
Tried a system restore to a date 3 weeks previous and still the same issue.
So i'm pretty stuck... anyone out there have an idea of what it could be?
Hoping its not a better get a new laptop issue, coming up to recession xmas thats a bad thing....
