How common is apparmour usage here? is it basically a sandbox for firefox?

I've never even heard of it.

Mehmeh12 - you seem ultra-paranoid about security (which is laudible), but heres my opinion on the matter:

In 15 years of running Windows & Linux, both on the desktop and the server, I have never had an issue with viruses or malware. I don't take any huge precautions. I run a firewall on my router so that my network is generally protected, apart from a few specific ports I forward to allow me to access some stuff from outside the home. I run AVG free for windows, but nothing else. I use firefox and thunderbird for web and email. I have nothing special in linux, just an iptables firewall on my laptop. The key to staying protected in my opinion is not software or technical - its common sense. Make sure your systems are patched regularly and your AVG virus definitions are updated daily. Don't click on dodgy links, don't run code or software you don't trust or understand, and don't download dodgy attachments. Thats about it. Any of my friends who have had issues that I've had to fix have almost always done one of the stupid things above.

I feel your biggest concerns (dodgy websites stealing your details, scammers) would be addressed by the same methods, not by software and config.

I absolutely agree I've been using computers since before viruses where invented.

I've never had a virus. I don't download or install anything I haven't specifically asked for because I know what it is and what it does.

I don't visit dodgy sites. never open any emails which are forwards of forwards even if they come from a close friend, and certainly don't click on any links in any email without checking the actual address not the one displayed.

I do keep my Comodo Internet Security up to date but It has never had a virus to deal with.
