Hey guys came across the website in Germany that has a good few american products at the cheapest price i could find,

For instance Mountain Dew 24 cans €18.99 (excluding shipping)
and budweiser is €15.99 for 24 bottles which are usually €24

The reason i think this site is so cheap is because they have a flat rate shipping of 14.90 to Ireland

And since its coming from Germany i don't think you can get hit with customs (can someone confirm?)

    Heres the site http://www.americanfood4u.com

You wouldn't get hit for VAT but you could be charged excise duty on this which would add quite a lump. People have ordered from german based sites and not been charged excise duty but others have.

not a bargain as shipping is € 14.90, kinda pointless unless you are ordering loads of it and then the possibility of getting hit with tax by customs:eek:

Well it is actually a bargain in my eyes since mountain dew is not available in Ireland and alot of people who have traveled to the states love the stuff..

The cheapest i could find next to that was £34.44 for 24 cans of mountain dew including shipping from the uk...

So if you find a cheaper price then that i will agree it is not a bargain until then ;)

There was a thread either on this board or another one about importing specialist beer from Germany. They seem to have lots of small breweries over there.

The advice given was that legally, once importing from another EU country, that the responsibility for paying VAT and Excise tax lay with the company exporting the beer not with the end receipient.

If you think about it for a minute, we hear stories all the time, about people getting whacked with tax etc, from people importing from the US and further afield.

Has anyone heard of anyone being hit, when importing goods by post, from continental Europe (excludes channel Islands etc), where duty was already paid.

Also, there is a small limit on the amount of cigarettes and spirits you can import but the limit for beer is much more generous.
