Kyle McCallan has announced his retirement from international cricket. A huge loss to the side, his tactical acumen and metronomic bowling, not to mention his lower-order batting, will be sorely missed.

He is also a nice guy in a team of nice guys, with no air or graces about him and a sensible down-to-earth approach to life and cricket.

Will he be encouraged to become part of the coaching staff? Someone with as much experience would surely be a huge help to Ireland going forward?

Very sad to see him go, always one of my favourite players, as others have mentioned, I'd love to see him go into the coaching side of things,

either way, thanks for the memories, you will be missed :), '' Spin Twins '',

and after watching the BBC video, he stated that he would want to pass on his help to the younger guys of the team. And that is good news :)...

He will be badly missed. I loved his action, very effective. He did us proud many times.

A fine off spinner and lower order batsman. A bubbly character as well. Will be missed.

I have only been a Cricket fan for the last few years, so I was wondering did Kyle always do the slow pause during his delivery,

or something he had recently introduced?...

I believe that he changed his run-up earlier this year and perfected it during the T-20 Tournament when he was our best/economical bowler - but I am open to correction!

Sad to see such a quality player retire. However it does open the door for young prospects Gary Kidd and George Dockrell. Hopefully Kyle will stay on in some sort of coaching/mentoring capacity.

Jeremy Bray announced his retirement and has already agreed to work with the Ireland A squad this year alongside Adi Birrell.
