hi all i have decided to buy my gf a chanel handbag for christmas!
could anyone help me out as to where to find decent second hand ones?
or even new ones that wouldnt be to expensive i can afford maby 600e?

First of all, you are very generous to be buying your girlfriend a Chanel! She is a very lucky lady!

Ok so I don't think you will get a new Chanel for €600 - I think the cambon tote maybe starts around €900 / €1,000 (there was a price increase recently). That's the one with the two large Cs on it - you see fakes of it everywhere, it's the most faked Chanel bag so you will have seen it before. Because of this, I wouldn't really recommend buying this one (there's just too many fakes of it around and it kind of ruins the image of the cambon tote, at least that's what I think anyway).

On the second hand thing ... if you are buying anywhere, please please please get it authenticated first before you buy. Also, do you know if your gf would actually want a second hand bag? For me personally, I would not like a second hand bag at all, it kinda makes me squirm because of the whole germ thing, you just don't know where people have put their handbags or what they've had in their handbags (it just freaks me out so I would never ever buy a second hand bag!). Now that said, you could probably find handbags in very good condition etc and a lot of people don't mind a second hand bag. Try to suss this out with your gf first.

My suggestion to you is that instead of buying a bag, buy her a wallet instead. A wallet will cost around €600 and you can get gorgeous wallets in Chanel. Trust me, if she gets anything from Chanel she will be happy. You could also get her a pair of earrings or a Chanel bracelet instead but I think the wallet is a good idea coz she'll use it every single day. Plus it's a good starting point if she's never had a Chanel before.

Oh and since you're buying for Christmas, get to Brown Thomas early. Christmas in Chanel is insane and stock tends to diminish pretty quick so if you're leaving it til the last minute most stuff may be gone and they might not get whatever item you want back in stock til after Christmas. Good luck!

If she's ok with second hand bags i think thehandbagexchange.ie is a pretty good one! My BF got me a marc jacob from it for my 21st from it and it was in imacculate condition!
