    Hi guys

I have a friend (no seriously, it's not me) who is trying to replace his desktop with a laptop. He has absolutely 0 luck to flog it. Any suggestions? He's not looking to make loads of money but it was a good gaming rig at some stage and it feels like a waste to just bin a perfectly working computer.

He tried: Cashconverters, oxfam and a few others.

why not try a local pc shop, just inquire if they might take it in as trade against a laptop, the only thing is the laptops in a local pc shop will be slightly dearer than one from pc world etc. might be worth a shot they might use it for repairs etc to other machines. just dont give it away

otherwise put it in the swap section of adverts and say willing to swap with some cash for good spec laptop , somebody will make an offer

if he cant flog it id suggest giving it to one of those old hardware recycling centres that the do rounds across the country. Old pcs are sold on, e.g. P$ with screen for 100euro, youll make nothing but at least it wouldnt be scrapped( if you mate is environmentaly concious )

There are also many organisations around the country always looking for old pc's, Like most pc's would be fine for just office apps

I'd hold on to it as spares always come in handy if your having problems with a PC. e.g. you think the psu is faulty then you can test it with the psu from your old PC

No screen. So you'll have to guess what the computer is doing while working on it :D But whatever it's doing, it will be relatively fast.

If this was an adverts.ie thread the 'Are you splitting' vultures would probably have the carcass stripped clean by now.

Should be fine for 720p or even up to 1280*1024 or 1440*900. Unless you really feel the need to run Crysis at Ultra High :D

Yeah, stick it up on adverts.ie. Ask for 250.00. You ought to get the most of that for it.
