www.practicepr.ie are clients of mine whom I'm happy to recommend. They are based in Wicklow but work a lot in Dublin.

    Yea - you!

Do it yourself - if its for a S.M.E. (as I assume it is) you are better off "avoiding" (and that's a particularly kind euphemism for words that lurk deep inside the recesses) PR companies.

Not a hard and fast rule, just an opinion

There are loads of PR companies in Dublin, and which you work with will depend on what sector your business is. Some specialise in specific sectors. You'll soon get an idea of what each PR company does.

There are two things to keep in mind.

    1. PR companies can only work with the materials they're given. They can't pluck good publicity from thin air and they can't get you free media coverage if the product is lousy. They can help you sell your idea to the media and improve its image, but if the product is useless, the PR will fail, irrespective of how expensive it was.

    2. You need to decide what you want them to do for you. Do you want them to help you meet journalists, or influential people in your sector, or clients? PR companies need to be directed.

But, in general, I'd recommend you work hard on getting your product or service as good as possible then decide what you want your PR person to do.

    They're expensive!
