Please help. I have wasted hours on websites and wasting time with the useless staff of HN or pCw. My budget is €500 per laptop.

    Spec I am looking for

    min T4300
    4gb Ram
    500 gig HD
    17" screen
    Radeon card 512mb

I think you will struggle to get that spec under €500 unless you pick up a refurb. I went into Dabs & specified laptops with 4GB RAM, 16in+ screen, 500GB HD etc & the cheapest is €662. Can't personally vouch for it but the HP DV7 I heard is a decent machine & it certainly looks good.

Thanks seamus. I am just getting frustrated looking TBH.

I can get all that spec except for the video card, hoping there will be some mad sales in the next month. Hoping to get a decent deal for 3 of them.

I buy laptop from Laptop Direct . www.laptopsdirect.ie

Super company. Do great deals and delivery is excellent. 2/3 days max.

I have already purchased two laptop from this company in the last month.
And every laptop has been very very cheap and delivered in a couple of days.

    Check out this laptop. http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Toshiba_Satellite_Pro_L300-26P_Laptop_PSLB9E-03V003EN2GB/version.asp

    Dual core
    2G of RAM
    120G harddisk

and laptop is downgradable to windows xp

This laptop will cost you a total of €382 with delivery.

That means you will have 118 for a upgrade in ram

OP,before you buy anything from laptopsdirect.ie check out the following thread:

From my own experience, having bought a 42 inch TV from them earlier this year,I found them fine to deal with and delivery was prompt. However,as you can read from the link above others haven't been as fortunate.

That has a ATI Radeon™ HD 4530 Dedicated Graphics card with 512MB dedicated DDR3 Memory. Comes with Windows 7 64 bit too!

    Downloadable PDF Spec here:

My girlfriend has the DV6-1131ea with the same card, but a slightly different processor and a smaller Hard Drive and screen and loves it.

Only advice I would give you is that perhaps you should try and be flexible on some of the specs

For example 3GB of ram rather than 4GB especially if you dont care which OS you are going to get ?
Also the disk size. External disks are very cheap these days - and as a general policy 200+ GB is a safer amount to store onboad (and use external storage for the rest).

Key thing with laptops in my experience is the processor and weight - get the best you can get for the money you can spend. ram and disk space can always be upgraded easily enough.
For 500 maybe you should look at the dell outlet centre ? also if you are buying three then theres a bigger chance that you'll get one that is a dog ! - so I would err on the side of caution in terms of who you buy from - dabs and some of the other online sellers have better reputations than others. Maybe search the boards.ie before you order.

just my two cents - please disregard if you find them useless !

WELL powercity have dual core cpu, win7 2gig ram ,compaq, dvdrw, hdmi out laptops,
    399euro.www.powercity.ie i think its 64bit version.
    FOR games i prefer winxp,or win 7 32bit, but its a good price.Screen is 15inch.
BY the way try and get widescreen laptops, its worth paying 500.They may be widescreen i dont know.
