Control-Freak Bassist

So I play in a 4-piece band in Ireland and we have to have the most crazy, control-freak, psycho bassist ever- and that is not about his playing ability. I've known him for three years and the other members have been in the group about two years, give or take.

Our bassist is nuts- literary mental. He has reached a point where he dosen't talk to us like friends but band members, like we're a business together. Now as for me and the other two, we hang around lots outside the band just going out and chilling and whatever. But our bassist is all about the business- that's it.

He even believes that he can bully us into playing and jamming to make new songs. More than once he has lashed out very violently at us (including smashing our old singer's head against a pub sink in the gents and throwing his bass guitar at his) and tonight. Last weekend I was meant to go back home with him and finish up on a demo we're working on BUT I had CA's to catch up on.

I rang and told him I wouldn't make it and he seemed fine until the next day when I get a text telling me to be at the recording studio on the other side of the country at 1 in the afternoon. I rang him and reminded him I was working on my CA's 7 hours away and still had a lot to do. This is what he said back "I expected you to have all that done so you could be up here." He hung up angrily and I didn't hear from him again until tonight.

Now here's the crazy bit.... he showed up at my place, uninvited, didn't knock or ring the doorbell, just walked inside, upstairs into my room where my two other house-mates were in with me. He walked in very sly asking me why I wasn't at the studio 3 days before and I reminded him AGAIN I was working.

He then punched me in the face, not to hard but just about right. For a moment I was like "wtf" , it was the last thing I expected right out of the blue I mean come on! I shouted at him to get out of my house. He then walked over to me where I was sitting and turned to my housemate beside me and said "Hey Sean" I looked at Sean who expected a punch but instead bassist hit me again.

Then my other housemate got up and tried to pull him back but he grabbed my leg and dragged me to the floor where he began kicking me in the head and back, roaring at the top of his voice. I got up as quick as I could and darted out of the house (mind you I'm 5'4, he's about 6'7 so I didn't have a chance at taking him plus I there was blood all over me) I ran next door where I sat for the next two hours shocked out of my mind wondering all that over missing one recording session? He has problems...... so with my battered lips and broken teeth rang up the rest of the band and now Crazy Bassist is getting kicked out.

Now what I think is this..... he'll properly KILL me for kicking him out for that but obviously that's no way to act around people. I haven't told him yet.... I'd say tomorrow afternoon.... so there I'm paranoid, tasting blood and about to tell a complete nut where to go...... fantastic eh?

The band is his life. He never stops talking about it, about gigs or new songs and everything. Nearly everything he does is about the band. Me and him are in the same college course together and he's doing it for the band! BUT WE CAN'T WORK WITH THIS LUNATIC NO MORE!! WHAT THE HELL AM I MEANT TO DO???!
