Have the day off next Monday and was thinking of playing South County as I have never played it before.

With all the ****e weather has anyone played there recently and what condition is the course in? Thanks

Played last Saturday. The course is in great condition considering all the rain that has fallen. The fog cleared just as we teed off and we had a beautiful day after that.

    Pauliee,

Call before you go up to confirm full course is open if temp has been low overnight as the only thing bar the monsoon like weather we have had to close the course is frost. There is a frost course, temp green available but not the best to play.

Played South County today, in excellent condition. You could see how high water had been on the fairways, unbelievable how it has recovered since Sunday.

Played South County on a few occasions, one time was playing with a member off 8, he said on a windy day he often put balls into the car park from the 10th tee, his mate apparently broke a car window. Hope that doesn’t jinx you! Fine track, I’d say it copes well with the recent weather.

Let us know what you think of Kileen Castle, would like to play and compare it to Lough Erne, two brand new real championship standard courses, not like your Hollystown’s which claim to be a championship course but at affordable prices!

played the open day in kileen castle in october its a stunning course.
.bunkers are impossible to get out of they seem to suck the ball into them well they did to mine:eek: .
17th is sum hole trying to get across the water to the fairway.
id advise to get a buggy as theres a long trek between each hole

Didn't get to play South County on Monday as playing partner had to cry off as called into work. Shame as was looking forward to it.

However played Killeen Castle on the Sunday and have to say some track. The course is magnificent and the greens are definitely among the best in Ireland. I was hitting putts all day which looked dead weight only to end up six foot by. Definitely a test of the nerves. Great par 3's especially the 16th with a 180 ft carry over water. My favourite hole was the par 4 17th with a drive over water which tempted you to bite off a bit more than you could chew to get a shorter shot to the green. In fairness all the holes were impressive.

The clubhouse and facilities also deserve a mention with a sauna and the best showers I have ever seen in a clubhouse. Will definitely be going back soon.
