    Answer: Hell yeah!

Seriously, its about the only mechanism that allow me to keep in touch with friends all over the world, bar random texts here and there that cost money :(. That has to be a good thing.

Was never a fan of the online social networking sites. Deleted my bebo page like 3 months ago, having not been on it in months anyway. Any friends I'm bothered keeping in touch with are texted or called or I actually meet up with them regularly.

It's ok for keeping in touch with old friends and relatives I suppose, but farmville and the like are sh1te.

No, not a fan of social networking at all. Have the pages, rarely visit them.

Been on Facebook for about 20 months now, before all the bebo lot came over :pac:

It's not as good as it used to be, but I'm still on it everyday. So yeah, I'm a fan

Meh, facebook is alright. I don't get though why people think they HAVE to delete another social networking account because they've started using another. It's not as if it's a massive burden on your life. I still like to go on bebo every now and again and do some stalking or whatever :P

PS: stepbar, I'm not personally ranting about you, just that in general. Just incase I came across that way :)

I have a Facebook and a Bebo account.

I don't use my Bebo account anymore but I regularly use Facebook.
It's ok. It's nothing special. I only really use it to keep in touch with friends I've not seen in a while.

The one thing I hate about it is that people keep spamming me with all this "join Farmville" crap. Is there a way I can filter this out?

Also people updating their status about every little miniscule detail of their life is quite pathetic. I have learned to ignore that though.

Facebook is ok bar the amount of stupid applications they have there.

linkedin is much better, i think

Not really, a bit. i used to be on bebo constantly.. But am now maybe on it once or twice a week. I seem to be getting addicted to boards!
But, facebook is ok. does anyone like / have myspace??
think thats the worst website ever! Seriousely!

    (Just thought i'd ask!)

Ive been on it daily for years - always had it open on my PC, but turned around one day about 2 weeks ago and found friendships there to be superficial for some reason...

Ive been off facebook for 14 days now (bar the odd time to check something out)... and i dont have any withdrawal symptoms atall ! to my surprise :)

I like facebook simply because it's whatever you want it to be, really.

People give out about applications, but you can just block them. People give out about people with idiotic statuses, but you can just "see less" of the people who post them. You can see exactly who you want to see and you can control exactly what everyone else is seeing. It's completely customizable. Anyone who gives out about it either has lived their entire life in one place and just really has no need for a social network, or just hasn't bothered to explore the idea properly.

It's useful when you've gone outside of your hometown for some time and made a lot of friends elsewhere. I travel a lot and facebook has been brilliant for keeping up with old friends. Yeah, I could call them, if I had a couple hundred extra euro lying around, but I don't. I could talk to them on MSN, Skype, whatever, but my hours here are different to the ones of back home and it's not practical. So I drop them a post on facebook to see how they're getting on.

It's what you make of it. Completely what you make of it.

Also the "the older facebook was better!!!1" argument is bullcrap. Visually, yes, but Facebook Fixer for Google Chrome fixes that. The rest is definitely better. The newest release has been the best so far for customizability/control and privacy.

was on bebo, but its kinda sh!t really. On facebook, love it, but i used to use farmville and all that sh1te, until i realised that i had no life . . . then i started boards!!!

The invites to groups, gift requests etc do get really annoying . . .

It's funny to hear people logged in and registered to a forum say there is no point to Facebook, and that they just deleted their accounts.

It's like someone going hunting and turning to his friend and saying "Man, fishing is pointless".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,248 ✭✭✭Slow Show

    Yes, love it :D

EDIT: Kormeera actually summed it up for me, that's basically how I feel except I like Facebook more than that.

I looove Facebook. Bebo was just so boring and crap. Facebook is simple and attractive, plus there's an iPod app for it. :P
