Eta Wood Pellet Boiler

Recently got a quote for a Eta wood pellet boiler, (augers etc) of €15,000 incl Vat approx. This is a big outlay when compared to that of a condensing oil boiler (€1500), however I do accept that the future cost of oil will be highly volitile and coupled with the efficiency of the modulating Wood Pellet Boiler I have come to the conclusion that the latter is the way to go. However having searched and searched and searched I cant find anybody who has installed one of these boilers in their homes, obiviously I would like to get feedback from people regarding running costs etc before i paid out much a large amount of money. I apologise if this topic have been covered already, but i havent come across it anywhere.

    Hi rs2,

I assume the quote for the wood pellet boiler includes storage and installation also. What size machine is it/ how big is the house?

There are other quality wood pellet boilers that have good track records and references if taht would make you feel better.

Oil would be a very regretable decision

    Thanks for yere replies.

House = 3600sq.ft, Its an Eta pe 25Kw wood pellet boiler, price includes extraction motor and gearbox and the auger, no storage hopper or anything like that, I realise you get what you pay for, and I am willing to pay that bit more for quality, efficiency and reliabilty, its just that id like to speak to someone that has had one for a while, if maybe just to kill off any doubt that is in my mind before I part with my hard earned cash.

Anyone who can quote or supply information to me on more competitive prices for quality modulating boilers then please pm me.

My eta quotation was for the 15 kw version and included gear box auger and direct /water heating control management cirecits and room control stats for 13K all in.

    Hope this helps.

Those prices seem a little high esp considering there is no storage involved that is another expence you have to take into account.

    Hi RS2,

I have a similar size house to yours and have just decided to install an Eta PE25. Cost is approx £15,000 for the PE25 plus an 825l Eta accumulator and installation (which does include changing my DHW to be run from the Eta instead of the current Aga). This does not include any pellet storage, etc. Before choosing the Eta I looked at some Italian makes and a Danish make. The Italian boilers (Extraflame, etc) were cheaper but the cost different was not as much as expected when I added in the cost for vacuum delivery, etc, which is standard with the Eta. Having researched the Eta I am confident that it really is a quality item - just comparing the specs (efficiency, electricity usage, etc) of the Eta boiler convinced me of that.

I really like the vacuum delivery system and that gives good flexibility for fuel storage. In the short term I am cobbling together a storage bin in my garage but long term I will build or buy a proper storage silo.

I am in the UK but my supplier did mention that the Irish Eta distrubutor is so happy with the quality of the product that they provide a 5 year warranty, adding 2 or 3 years (can't remember which) to the manufacturer's warranty. Not sure if that is true or not but hopefully it is and that would be good for you!

My Eta should be running by Christmas so PM me then if you want to know how it works in practice.

    Cheers,

    Jon

Does anyone have a link to some technical spec for this boiler. I am very interested in finding out what the spec is on this product.
