I know a few people here use Superior Drummer 2.0 so I thought I'd let you know there is currently a sale on the two expansions (NY Studios and the Metal Foundry) for $79 each. While this is a US only sale a few sellers have them on Ebay. I just picked up both packs for €120 delivered which is amazing considering the two would cost me €278 from the Toontrack store. :D

Bought my SD2 as a crossgrade from Sweetwater last week (EZdrummer to SD2 was 99 dollars!). You get a downloadable serial number. They messed up on the order and were only to keen to rectify it so I got half price delivery at 17 dollars for the installation disks that are a required part of the electronic delivery option (NB You need the DISKs - SD2 is not downloadable).
In the delivery you get all the disks for the existing Toontrack products minus the serial numbers therefore to get subsequent SDX's you only have to order electronic delivery of the Serial Numbers (no shipping and you get immediate access to the SDX 'cos you have the disks already). Have to say it is a great move by ToonTrack to do this. Now I can avail of the heavily discounted offer of 79 dollar SDX's and avoid the import duty and VAT (I think legally too, I may add) by just buying the serials.
    Happy days.
Hope this gives something back to a very informative forum.

PS there is a current group buy on esounds.com for their Ocean Way Drum/ Drum Masters kits that could get you over 20 killer kits for 99 dollars too. Their group buys are always good and the support they offer is excellent too. Listen to the pre-processed and dry kits on the site. I may get this instead of the Metalfoundry and NewYork SDX's.

Digital Village are now also taking part in the sale so you can get each expansion for £59.

Nice! Time and space have that deal too.
Buying from Sweetwater still works out at 47GBP if you have the install disks in your posession - just order the serial number online and they send it to you via email ready for authorisation of the SDX.
    Thanks.

Cheers for that lads... I'm a recent convert to TD12 & SD2... and I'm still smiling from ear to ear having made the switch from an acoustic kit in my home set up.

I got SD2+ NY expansion pack from Dolphin 2 weeks ago for €220 (with a bit of haggling). The expansion pack was on back order. It just arrived into stock today... so I've just added the Metal Foundry pack to the order (it has a Sensitone snare which I love) for £59stg. No delivery charge either!

Both packs due for delivery in 48hrs ... happy days!

Same here, my neighbours suck so I was only able to play my drums once in a blue moon. I built an e-kit out of a second hand Pearl Rhythm Traveller kit:

It comes with mesh heads so all I needed were some Roland Cymbals, a TD3 brain which I picked up cheap off Ebay to trigger Superior and some materials to build some triggers like so:

Took me a while to tweak it perfectly but it works amazingly well, and cost me less than a TD3 kit :) Its great for home recording and playing.

Nice job... wish I'd spoken to you before I shelled out on a new TD12... could've saved myself a fortune!

And if you want to keep Irish money in Ireland, Studio Solutions up in Blanchardstown (Rosemount Business Park) have both packs available for 69 euro too for December.
Yoda - does the NY studio pack offer huge differences in kit choice or are you paying more for the ambience and micing options in Allaire and HitFactory? I was looking at TMF and it looks to have more cymbals and snare to play with. I am definitely not into Metal (Laugh ye not, but main live playing would be at church ) but I guess having more choice of kit pieces wouldn't hurt. Love snappy, tight snares for funk / Rn B playing. When you get your SDX's would value your take on them.

Mataguri, recently sold my v-kit that I made. Was very happy with it. Had Roland heads on it that maintained the acoutic-ish looks. Yours looks good. Like your bracing structures. Were they held in place just by head tension or by physical attachment to the shell too?

Ah If I knew Studio Solutions were selling them for that price I would have bought them there!

The brackets are held by head tension, but they could easily be modifed to attach to the side screws of the shells.

Ah now the TD12 is a savage piece of kit that works great out of the box! Building this kit took a good few weeks, esp trying to figure out how to effectively get a rim shot working on the snare without triggering the snare hit.

That is incredible looking! I love those smaller bassdrums too. Was thinking off picking one up with a nice rack to build something like:

It’s not just the rooms/ambience… the NY & TMF expansion packs a have much bigger selection than the std NY stuff that comes in the box with SD2. I’m not into metal either, but TMF has a super selection of snares, kits & cymbals (not sure if you looked at the “details” tab on the Toontrack site?... it lists every drums/cymbals that's sampled with each pack (check it out here )

That’s very true… I couldn’t believe that the whole thing just worked out of the box… I set up the TD12, loaded up SD 2, opened an instrument track in Pro Tools, inserted SD & hey presto… no latency, no problems…
