    You need to stream.

    Thanks Tom.

Oh ooo... it sounds like it would probably work out v expensive

I was thinking of getting an iphone with a monthly 2G bundle...... but if I listened to the radio a lot on it then 2G might not be enough. I have no idea how much it takes to stream radio.

Maybe I will stick with my old phone and use it for listening to fm for free. It would be silly to get an iphone and then to have to bring my old phone with me too as a radio......

but iphone apps and games look really cool ......

    Not really.

Do a search - a while back I did the calculations for somebody as to how much data a 32k stream would use in one hour. It wasn't a lot. I used to do it on my 2G iPhone with Meteor.

My brain isn't able to do it now. :o

thanks for that. i found your post.... i think that means i would use about 1/4 of the monthly 2G bundle on radio, leaving me with 3/4s to use on other stuff :)

.... now im thinking of getting an iphone again... but i have some other questions (i dont want to get one and then be raging because i didn't find out enough about it first in the c climate etc).

    1) Are the iphone games as good as the ipod games?
    2) Is there a good irish sat nav app that i can put on loudspeaker? (I have no sense of direction and a habit of getting lost)

im going to search now and try to also find out if you can get......... a bluetooth headset, car charger, insurance and protection cover/case (i also have a habit of dropping things)

iphone games are amazing, that is one of the reason i whnt iphone. Just go to youtube ad type in: "iphone games"

This is a funny thing about iphone, it has so much cool technological stuff, but does not have just simple things..

thanks ScrubsfanChris for that. I agree with ShadowHearth when he said "This is a funny thing about iphone, it has so much cool technological stuff, but does not have just simple things.. ". Free fm is a key thing for me and i would love if iphone had it

I stream all the time and it doesn't hit the usage much. WunderRadio is a good app wit hall the Irish stations.

Also I read that the 3GS chip has FM capability, so it could be enabled in software in the future, that would be a nice little upgrade.

Rumours are out there that apple are creating their own app to switch on the FM radio. This is currently in use on the new 5th Gen Nano
