Melanin and the pineal gland

Now, i know the pineal gland produces melatonin but i have also seen it said on "black consciousness" websites that it produces melanin and that caucasians have calcified pineal glands (i thought everyone did to some extent). Does calcification render a pineal gland useless? Any truth to any of this? Also, is there any…

Any truth to any of this? Also, is there any scientific reason why the pineal gland is so closely associated with spirituality and the "third eye"?
