Anyone here know about Saint Patrick's Battalion?

I just found out about this, & thought it was pretty interesting.

Basically, it was during Mexico's battle against the USA in 1847, in which many Irish members of the diaspora fought with the USA. But eventually the Irish started to relate with what the Mexicans were fighting for, & then swicthed to battling with the Mexicans.

This was something I never knew about, & I just thought I'd share it.

thanks for posting these links. I was aware of this war but had no idea about this particular unit nor the regard with which they are still held in Mexico. There seems to have been some extreme treatment meted out to them by the US Army on a par with Franco wanting to wipe out traces of the International Brigades.
