Just on a late 70 now and found a sony ericsson upstairs. I'd imagine the owner got the 2.10 70 from dublin. I could've held onto the phone and try find the owner but left it with the driver. I'm posting in case the owner is on boards!

Giving it to the driver was probably the right thing to do with a phone. Let's hope he's an honest sort and hands it in to lost property! Always a dilemma these things-the mother had a blazing row with a staff member in Arnotts years ago when she found a sum of money and reported it to them. She didn't want to hand it over as she reckoned it would be pocketed so she gave them her number and told them if anyone asks about a sum of money to give it to them. The staff were insistent (a little too insistent tbh!)on my mother handing it over to them for 'safe keeping' but she held her ground.

The person never called. You can only do your best.

Just a thought for next time, maybe leave it in your local garda station if they would accept it.

If the phone was left on I'm sure he would have tried ranging it other than that if it was an older model he might just want to forget about it and make an insurance claim if it was covered.

When its reported missing the service proider or insurance company will block the sim and IMEI immediatly.

I would but the garda station here in Dunboyne are open 10.30-13.00 monday to friday! May not suit some people also the owner may have left the bus in cabra, blanch etc.

That is dependant on the user. If they registered the imei or have records of it. Something a lot of people forget to do. The sim is easily blocked but tbh it was not a flagship phone or anything special. I cannot remember the model number but i know enough that its worth about 50euro new in a shop max. Doesn't matter if it's a nokia 3310 or a iphone. I'd still prolly hand it in. though no offence to the driver but if it was valuable i'd hold it personally till it rang. if not i'd try find 'home' in the contacts.

What if the member of the Garda who accepts the phone is not honest?
Nice to see us oul bus drivers are still held in such high regard by boards c&t forum members. If I left a phone on the bus I would ring it first then ring the bus company lost and found, last thing I would do is ask a garda if anyone handed it in.
