It seems random friends of mine have been getting the following e-mail from me:
    <name removed> wants to chat

<name removed> wants to stay in better touch using some of Google's coolest new
    products.

If you already have Gmail or Google Talk, visit:
    http://mail.google.com/mail/b-a6f4f3122c-4373cc0b84-9600b7a363559347
You'll need to click this link to be able to chat with <name removed>.

To get Gmail - a free email account from Google with over 2,800 megabytes of
storage - and chat with <name removed>, visit:
    http://mail.google.com/mail/a-a6f4f3122c-4373cc0b84-9600b7a363559347

    Gmail offers:
    - Instant messaging right inside Gmail
    - Powerful spam protection
    - Built-in search for finding your messages and a helpful way of organizing
    emails into "conversations"
    - No pop-up ads or untargeted banners - just text ads and related information
that are relevant to the content of your messages

All this, and its yours for free. But wait, there's more! By opening a Gmail
account, you also get access to Google Talk, Google's instant messaging
    service:

    http://www.google.com/talk/

    Google Talk offers:
    - Web-based chat that you can use anywhere, without a download
    - A contact list that's synchronized with your Gmail account
    - Free, high quality PC-to-PC voice calls when you download the Google Talk
    client

We're working hard to add new features and make improvements, so we might also
ask for your comments and suggestions periodically. We appreciate your help in
    making our products even better!

    Thanks,
    The Google Team

(If clicking the URLs in this message does not work, copy and paste them into
the address bar of your browser).

Anyone got any idea why this is being sent? Is it being sent by Google itself, some virus on my machine, the Google chat client? The last person to say they got this mail from me was using an Eircom.net account. The mails show up in my "sent mail" folder in Gmail alright. It's very frustrating as these mails go to mailing lists as well. I did a Google search and I found quite a few mailing lists that had been spammed with similar mails from other people but no solution.

I have changed my password just in case and revoked access to a site called "zoho.com"? Not sure how that got into my authorised sites list.

Your friend simply invited you to chat / be his friend on Gmail, it's not spam or a security issue - it's a request that I'm sure Kevin would like you to accept ;)

    (Damn, missed a bit).

No, this was sent from me to several other people (including a mailing list) without me knowing about it. Was sent a few hours ago as well so I'd remember if I did something that might have triggered it.
