What drinks remind you of christmas? and drinks you would only really drink around this festive time?

    any good recipies?

For me it would have to be Baileys! on its own or in a coffee. Mulled wine is another one, not too mad about the taste but the smell is sooooo good!

Yep, agree with you on both counts. Baileys (with milk) and I love mulled wine.

Cream soda, an acquired taste but I love it.

    And Guinness from a can.

ooo I love cream soda. Whoopsadaisydoodles, I think you can still get it in teso, you could a few months ago anyway.
I had mulled cider last year, was pretty nice.
Or my brother usually makes really nice hot whiskey.

Yeah it is. If not in some places you can get small bottles of Jones cream soda, expensive but soooo good. The newsagent in Dundrum shopping center was doing them 4 for €5 about a month ago.

My Christmas drink would be Baileys coffe and mulled wine or cider. I had a go at mulling my own wine and cider last year and it was yum.

Lots of coca cola with everything you eat. And guinness from a can. Guinness i s a real comfort drink that makes me feel warm and homely during the winter. I tend to wear thick woolen clothes when drinking guinness to get the full effect.

I have a few different Christmas drinks. I drink way too much Coke anyway but I go completely overboard on it during Christmas. :o
    I love mulled wine too.

Myself and my sister always make hot chocolate on Christmas Eve and drink it by the fire. My other sister makes really good coffee and we usually have that the morning of Stephens' Day.

Finally, I don't usually go out during Christmas but if I do, a night of vodka and lime is in store! :p

You should try hot chocolate with baileys in it - scrummy.

try a fireball if ur man (or woman) enough this christmas..

    it consists of:
    gin
    vodka
    peach snaps
    red bull
    a little bit of ribena...

put all this into a pint glass and away you go! but be warned, this has been known to cause temporary memory loss on a nite out :D

    Hot spiced apple juice:

    Apple juice
    Cinnamon
Squeeze of orange and lemon juice
    Cloves
    Nutmeg
    Honey

Heat in a saucepan, serve hot. Delish. Easy to boozy it up if you're so inclined.

    Woah, woah!

You can buy 2 litre bottles of Rockshandy now? Where?

I don't like mulled wine at all - had it in Munich last year, not nice :(

Guinness from a can is excellent, have one Christmas morning when I visit my Granny :)

If in Ireland I tend to binge on the stuff I Can't ge elsewhere - Club/Finches and proper Guinness. Otherwise gluhwein and some nice, expensive wine and a selection of Belgian beers. And if I could find that honey schappsy thing they have in Uruguay anywhere I'd grab me a bottle of that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,553 ✭✭✭mymo

A couple of Christmases ago, my dad found a bottle of port while we were preparing the dinner. He gave me a glass of port and lemonade and it was lovely, I'm not much of a drinker these days... so we all had a few, but after we finished the bottle we were a little worse for wear!
For our family its pretty much whatever is lying around, most of us don't drink except christmas, when we try everything and anything!

    Favourite Christmas drinks:
    1. Baileys
    2. Hot Port
    3. Mulled Cider
    4. Mulled wine

Never drink them at any other time really.

I don't really have a seasonal drink. I suppose Jack and coke would probably be it.

A strawberry fragonard* on Christmas morning following pressies:

Nice bubbly like prosecco, puree about 5 strawberries and pour into bubbly, yum, yum.

Tia Maria and Orange Juice (tastes like terrys chocolate orange) or milk, no idea why I don't usually drink either when I'm out.

A recent favourite is malibu and pineapple juice, amazing!

Like a hot toddy on a christmas evening too.

Mulled wine on Christmas eve ftw.

I sound like a total alco, I'm not really. Honest :p
