    Hi all,

I recently paid for a college course in dbs that i do in the evenings and i was wondering if i can claim anything back?

I saw on revenue.ie that i probably cant but then rang the tax office and they said maybe and to just send in the form.

Can anyone clarify before i go sending it off and getting my hopes up.

    Cheers

Ask the college that you did the evening course with. They should know if the course qualifies. If not just submitt the claim and revenue will look into it. While there is a list of qualifying colleges on the website, that list is never up to date so you are best just to submitt the claim. :)

You probably are especially because it was a diploma. Just to note you have to have paid tax this year in order to get a refund as it is tax relief on tuition fees.

Have a read through the following http://www.revenue.ie/en/tax/it/reliefs/tuition-fees.html#section6

It might help you with any questions you may have. :)

By the way if it was this year that you did the course you must wait until the year is over to submit your claim.

Not really. The Tuition Fees, if qualifying, can be added to your tax credits for the current year. You'll then get a refund through your employer. Revenue do get a new list from the Dept of education, and this must be supplied before 01/July each year, so maybe double check yourself on www.revenue.ie before you send in your claim, to ensure its on the list!

gerrybbadd, you are right, sorry! It can be added to current years tax credits but you must be paying tax in order to get the relief. As for the list... I would contact Revenue direct. :)
