Injuries on the course?

    Hi,

I'm a bit of a lurker on this forum, and enjoy the Golf.

Just wondering if anyones ever picked up an injury on the course? Partially dislocated my shoulder when I was driving a couple of months back. Caught it heavy and *pop*! Let go of the club and as I grabbed my shoulder it popped back into place. Pretty painful, but it was more of the shock! It freaked me out, and Ive been a bit tentative gripping the driver ever since.

So, has anyone picked up an injury?

Yeah, tore the muscle on the underside of my upper arm at the start of last year. No idea how it happened, was getting some lessons so extra extension was most likely a factor. More gradually happend, then a few shots really tweaked it.

Stupidly said nothing and played hurt in Barton Cup round 1. Once that was out of the way I went straight to physio who was really great. He just did some radio stuff, gave me that arnica gel (or whatever it's called) and, with a couple of weeks total rest, it's good as new and I've forgotten all about it.

Two things I learned, and would strongly advise - when you do hurt something, go to a physio as soon as you can - it's not worth hoping it goes away. And secondly, always warm up in some way before you play, especially in colder months.

Have a bit of cartlidge damage above my left wrist at the moment, a bit of physio and should be ok.

Did some back tissue damage in a car accident wich I managed to mess up again by playing too soon too.

    Nothing too serious thankfully!

Tore a muscle in my groin whilst playing (well was actually on the range) was trying to stop my left knee from collapsing on backswing and held my body in an awkward position for too many shots, next thing I know, i can barely walk.

As mentioned before made quick trip to physio. Had me back in shape in no time!!!

A locked neck!Honestly, i was playing my approach shot to the 1st hole around 150 out and in my follow through my neck spasimed, and my neck locked, i tried to finish out the hole but it was impossible to play, took a few days to losen out!must stretch it before play as it can reoccur!

As some users on here know, I suffered a very serious injury on the course in Summer 2007.

I was attacked by a wild animal, in a vicious and unprovoked attack which left me with severe lacerations to one of my limbs.

I have since recovered but still keep my wits very much about me on the course, especially around the area on my home course where this horrendous attack took place.

I was left traumatised, and underwent a course of counselling to get over the mental anguish, but that day still haunts me...

Just a warning to you all, never try to feed chocolate to a seemingly friendly one of these:

Ya lying fooker, you told me it was a giant rabid rottweiler and you wrestled him to the ground before strangling him with your bare hands. Instead you were traumatized by a fluffy little squirrel!

    Shame on you :D
