LOL, who uses it?

Hey all, just a quick question,(mods move this if it's better suited in another tread...) who uses LOL, ROLF etc...
Do you actually 'laugh out loud', or is it just a habit to type it when you see something mildly entertaining?

Do these impede on the conversation flow, or do people simply ignore them, considering them a part of today's "net culture"? Are the as bad as misspellings and bad grammar, or something different?

I use it the odd time on facebook chat now.. used to use it alot more.

It's just a handy thing to type and anyone who has a major issue with it is an eegit to be fair.

For example, if Seamus paid a nocturnal visit to his neighbourhood Orange Order establishment armed with a can of spray paint,
