Is the a place to lock a bike at Dundrum Town Centre shopping mall.
    If so where?

-One at the entrance beside the cinema - rack and lots of railings, fairly busy, sometimes security guards wandering around
-One outside Tesco at the back, in the carpark - lots of racks, fairly busy, maybe a bit hidden behind lots of shopping trolleys.
-One beside the road at the back (near the entrance to the petrol station, at the bottom of some steps up to the carparks) - racks, never busy, only traffic passing by, no pedestrians really, least secure one I think

There's also a bike "cave" hidden away in the carpark on level 2M beside the entrance to the RSA which is near the entry/exit barriers. Its a passage way which leads into a bike rack, its usually pitch black until you walk in (light sensors) or flick the switch on the wall to the right.

The only problem is its so hidden away you may never find it

There are two bike racks just inside the Ballinteer Road entrance, where the cottages are. Though the carousels make them a little bit difficult to get to at the moment.

There have been a couple of posts before about bikes being stolen from there. Take a couple of locks with you just in case.

More to the point, are you a high-end shopper?

Compared to the high tech car park it is a bit of a joke.

The one beside the cinema is awful, takes maybe 8 bikes and always full so people lock them to railings at the pedestrian crossing.

They really should have a better standard of bike parking at such a busy retail centre.

    Hi all,

Bumping this thread; was thinking of cycling to Dundrum cinema later, is the bike parking still there and secure?

Yes it's still there. As for how secure it is - it's basically on the public street so it's as secure as your lock.

Its a little better then on the street imo. Couple of security guards wondering about and lots of pedestrian traffic. Though I still use krypto evo locks when there (or anywhere :pac:)

Well yea, there are a lot of people walking about (with the exception of the bike stands at the front of the RSA) so it'd be hard I guess to cut / force a decent lock without being obvious.
