Lost licence while abroad

    Hi,
I lost my licence a few weeks back. As I'm living abroad I can't drop into the guards to get them to sign form etc.
My sis visited a few weeks back and I returned the form c/w photos with her. I checked the citizens info site and it listed:

    How to apply
The application form D.800 is available from your local Motor Taxation Office and your local Garda Station. This form must be signed and stamped by a Garda in your local Garda Station. :
Your completed application form should be submitted to your local Motor Taxation Office and must include the following:
    • Two identical passport-type photographs, with the back of both signed by you
    • The appropriate fee

I checked the Dublin city website today as I got my licence in Nutgrove and noticed it lists 3 forms of id that should be used to support the claim:
    http://www.dublincity.ie/RoadsandTraffic/DrivingLicences/Pages/LicencePermitReplacement.aspx#indate
Proof of your identity. This could include your:
    • Original Irish or EU passport.
    • Original EU national identity card.
    • Original Garda National Immigration Card
Obviously as I am travelling I need my orginal passport and I don't have any of the other listed id. I'll only be in Ireland from 9th - end December - how am I going to replace this?

    Not Your Ornery Onager

Is there a consulate or embassy near you? If so, I'm sure they would certify a copy of your passport. Also, I think (not certain) that the Garda needs to witness you signing the form..... like when you are declaring a car off the road for tax.

Anyway - free bump for you! :D

Got this sorted when I was back at Christmas, no problems at all, no need for passport etc.
Thanks to the Gardai in Mullingar and to the sweet girls in the tax office in mullin jar as well.
