Just wondering how people find it working there? Do/did you like it there? Are there genuinely good opportunities for advancement? Good work/life balance? Do they pay well in comparison to other pharma companies? I've heard the interview process can be quite intense....does anyone have any experiences they would like to share?

I didn't work directly for Lilly but worked on a long-term contract there (in Cork). It was a lower ranking job - I don't want to name it as it will instantly identify me to anyone who works there and I don't want Lilly employees taking it out on my ex-colleagues who are still there if they feel I'm talking out of place.

    1. They looked after their employees very well - canteen faciliies and backup services were good.
    2. The workplace was always clean and healthy - a huge plus in my book but I don't know if others rate it as important.
    3. Within reason everyone had a voice - operators could go to the engineers with a concern and it would be listened to, not just given lip service.
    4. I never saw anyones pay cheque but from conservations the money was very good. Again I'm not going to give figures. Lilly versus other pharma companies - I've no evidence of this but i was given the impression they were one of the better paying companies. Tbh if your coming from outside the pharma industry the money is going to seem very good for the work your doing.
    5. There was a good work/life balance there - yes there was times when people worked mad hours and couldn't take holidays until a project got sorted but to balance that line management and senior management were willing to be very flexible if you needed time off in more normal periods. And in normal periods people weren't overtaxed. Actually compared to my original industry people weren't overly taxed even when there was an emergency or deadline.

    Hope that's of some help.

I haven't sat an aptitude test for Eli Lily but have done aptitude for other pharmaceuticals in the past. Usually test you on 3-5 different things, comprehension of written instructions- a paragraph with associated questions understanding patterns- like sequences of numbers, mechanical reasoning- pulleys, circuits- very logical, spatial rotation- rotating a shape in your head to match other items. Try to do as quickly as possible, usually no marks for wrong answers. Best of luck. Hope this helps a little.

Having done aptitude tests with three different companies and passed all I never rushed any of them. I find its best to take your time and make sure your answers are correct. In the pharmaceutical industry the emphasis is on right first time with paperwork.

    Hi,

Had one of these tests recently in Cork (job applied for was a production Operative). But I got the 'snowballs chance in Hell reply' of securing an interview with them (told me i didn't pass the assessment).

I'm not sure what the 'model' they are looking for (I have 2 diploma's from UCC (Grade = Distinction and First Class Hons) - Must return them asap as obviously I didn't deserve them).

Anyway, the assessment itself is tough going - 37 maths Q's in 9 mins - and no rough work paper available - mostly multiplying and dividing decimals. My advice is look up the rules for doing this to give yourself a better chance at getting through them quicker than I did.

Other tests are answering Q's to a passage you read, picking out the letter 'E' from about 10 lines of random letters, putting shapes in order and a Punctuation Test.

AND then there is a situation where your group is divided in half, each are taken off into separate rooms - given a passage to read and then asked to rank the characters in the passage in order of whom you reckon was the most highly regarded and who was the least -then you must decide as a group the same ranking for these characters- meanwhile you are being observed by two Production Team Leaders as to 'how you participated in this team work.

As I said I didn't get it, but my friend who's first language is not english secured a place ( he feels he didn't do well at all in the punctuation Test - but ok in maths)

Well you said yourself that you didn't pass the assessment stage. That's the model, I guess. Frustrating, I know.

Hi ,did they inform you that you weren't getting an interview.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4 tinaturnerfan

Yes, got letter through 'snailmail' to say, "we regret to inform you that you were not successful in your recent assessment with Eli Lilly" - At least they had the courtesy of replying, which is very respectful of them.

Did anyone do the psycho metric test online before hand? Just wondering what that entails. Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 95 ✭✭FarOn

I completed the test a few days back. It's just a simple personality test testing what is important for you as an individual, preferences for working alone or in groups. If you are a person who likes to challenge seniority or tow the low. Thats the general gist of it. There are about 90 either/or questions. Seems quite standard. Hope this helps.

    Hi all!
As far as I know Lillys financial office is situated on Little island.
Could anybody advise how to get there not having own car from Blackrock/Mahon or from city center?
If to get there by public bus it may take like almost 2 hours from Mahon for example, I wonder are there any faster options?
    Thanks!
