Problem with Candy Dishwasher

My dishwasher it taking HOURS to complete the cycle. I thought it may be sticking on part of the programme but have just sat and watched it for 3 hours! it moved through the cycle without intervention but just took far too long. Any ideas for what to check would be appreciated.:(
