Does it look bad to take a break from ACCA's half way through to travel?

Basically I've finished an undergrad and a masters, and now I'm taking the ACCA's. I'm working at the moment but not it's nothing worthwhile and not related to what I studied.

The thing is my friends are intending to travel next summer for about a year. At this point I'll have completed a bit over half the ACCA exams. If your not familiar with them, there are 9 "foundation" exams and 5 "professional" exams. I'll have completed all the F exams if all goes well.

I'd love to go travelling with them, but I'm worried that this will look bad on my CV. I'll be 24 or 25 when I return and i'll have no proper experience. I think most employers will be of the opinion that I should of completed the ACCA's first and then gone away, but I can't really do that unless I want to travel on my own.

I'd like to hear what people's opinions are on this. Is it irresponsible? I spoke to someone who worked in HR and she suggested maybe trying to do osmething when I was away like try get some experience or maybe do some charity work or something?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

PS It may be worth mentioning that although I'm taking the ACCA's I'm not from a purely accounting background, my Masters was in Finance and my Undergrad was in Economics.

Go travelling, you're only young once. The ACCA's can wait, you've loads of time for all that.

I agree. If you can afford it, you should go traveling. I wanted to do the same, but I come from an area where the common thinking was "from school straight to work". Gap years (or even days) were seen as a waste of time by the whole community, hence I worked ever since. And now I regret it...
    Enjoy you holiday! :)

what will ultimately matter is that you have the qualification...eventually. Employers also like to see that their staff have travelled. It shows a rounded individual, with a bit of experience under their belt. Plus the employer then knows they got it out of their system and won't be feckin off after a year in the job. Do it! And enjoy it!
