I need to buy a part for my 1999 Astra, and I can get it cheap on ebay, but their choice is either for a Mk3 (to 1998) or a Mk4 (1998 on). Mine was first registered March 1999. I presume I can I tell from the chassis number, but how? Thanks

Vauxhall used the Astra name long before Opel did. Opel used to call it the Kadett before changing to Astra. Opel also use letters of the alphabet do distinguise each generation of a model. So I think that your 99 Astra model was known as the Vauxhall Astra MkIV or Opel Astra G.
