    Hey all,

Just wondering where is a good place online (anywhere, whether it be Ireland/The States/UK/China etc etc) to buy medical diagnostic equipment. I've been browsing through some sites recently and have some across some good places which look decent but just wondering if I can get the stuff a bit cheaper.
The stuff I'm looking to buy isn't cheap but I'm just looking for a site that offers competitive prices and is decent.

    Thanks,

    Mick

I'm sure if you post what your lookign for, how much you want to spend, and for what use we can narrow things down.

Helps to see if you want quality, aftersales, demo, local, suppliers with track record for an organisation.

You also need to ask who will stand over it when it fails

    Well,

For a steth I have my mind set on a 3M Littmann Master Cardiologist - All black. For a BP cuff I'm going with HEINE and I've been looking at Viamed for a pulse oximeter.

I found all that on the internet and it came to about €450.

As for a glucometer I don't really have an idea. Does anyone?

All the products I'm looking at have a good warranty on em.

i got a finger pulse oximeter on ebay 2 years ago from a crowd in hong kong for 30 euro (also got a ambu hand suction cheap on ebay from a different crowd) you can be lucky on ebay but my oximeter is still perfect and i use it most days.
Go into any chemist and ask them for a spare glucometer that a rep might have left in or a diabetic nurse in any hospital.
lithmans steths ar good but unless you need it for auscultating chest sounds any half decent steth should do.
    hope this is some help

That is a really top end and expensive stethoscope, unless you really need it for chest sounds (are are sure someone won't pinch it) the Littmann classic's are much cheaper and still great quality

Well, I'd be guarding that thing with my life, I don't see how someone would get the chance to rob it, and plus all the people I work with are top notch guys, I'd trust them all.
I know it's a lot of money but as you said it's a top notch steth. It has the highest acoustic rating out of all them and I figure why settle for second best!
I'm gonna be using it for ascultating chest sounds, not listening to the heart but I still want it! :P

I work fulltime as a medic. Not ambulance service but cover a lot of events.

I've to sit my EMT exams in January but I don't plan on staying at this level for the rest of my career. I plan on going to the states to train as a paramedic and maybe even Advanced if I stay on for long enough.

Ok, just so you know a littmann Classic 2 would be the stet of choice of all A/Ps I know. You really dont need anything more advanced than that. You get the same sounds from both LC 2 and L Cardio for chest sounds. The better littmanns are for hospital use. They wont put up to life on the street!! I use a littmann classic 2 in my own bag and have an ADC stet in my work bag......cant tell the difference between them to be honest. Littmann select is a good stet from the price too...

As for B/P cuff.....same as above you dont need anything fancy. Try a good BOSO. Here is the one im using for the last number of years and i've had no problem. Again i've seen A/Ps using these too in Cork and Limerick (Might have been issue at some stage)

Here is another good buy. NAS use them.

As for Pulse Oximeter I have both of these. This and this. both are nearly as good as the other, however the MD 300 isnt as good in very cold conditions or for someone in the very late stages of shock. I recommend the first one.

For the Glucometer any of the Accu-Chek are a good buy. Here is my recommendation

Links are to a site who are the most competitive around, although there is one A/P in Limerick doing good deals;)

Best of luck with NQEMT, if your doing it with a certain Galway company, James etc will inform you of the best choice for yourself.
