Dress Uniform

I was just curious with regards to ES as a whole and dress uniform.

Do all the services have it? [I know AGS and the Fire Brigade have it]

Is it issued to you on graduation/inauguration and then taken back?

Is it kept in the back of your locker gathering dust never to be used again?

Is it a waste of money? Would (in an AGS context) it be better to use the regular uniform minus vest, belt, fleece etc? (Obviously Fire can't around in their regular gear!)

Would the money be better spent on other equipment for members?

Or is the Dress uniform used regularly enough to justify its existence?

If this is sensitive information or something like that feel free not to reply!
    Somehow I doubt it though!

Garda dress uniform is personal issue, mines hanging in my wardrobe. Worn for any official ceremonies such as attestation, graduations, state funerals etc.
I like it, think it looks smart and should br kept for those occasions

All Garda members were measured for a new formal tunic however it hasn't been issued due to the cost of it.

My classic uniform is hanging in my wardrobe. It looks great if it's the correct size.

Prefer the current one to the new one they were looking at, it's smarter.

    Ta for the replies.

Interesting to see that ye all don't mind them.

Although, the new one seems to be some sort of overcoat, Red Square style?

i think theyre a waste of money and space to be honest. And its all ill fitting stuff that seems thrown together rather than made properly. The caps for example are of shocking quality and finish

Yep issued with one about ten years ago, Ambulance Service, then another a couple of years ago, strange to see that the tailors tape measure had shrunk since my first fitting:rolleyes:
