    Hi,

I recently got an iphone pay as you go from o2. I have wireless in work and at home and my iphone use these hotspots to pick up emails and stuff. However when I am out of range of these hotspots it will dial out over the 3g/o2 network and I get charged.

Is there any way I can disable the automatically dailling and force it to use wifi only?

Remove the O2 APN settings from your phone.

It won't be able to connect, so you won't get charged.

Another method might be to put the phone in Airplane mode and turn back on the WiFi (of course this method is a little pointless if you want to make/receive phonecalls :)).

Absolutely. The APN is purely to do with data connections (i.e. internet), nothing to do with calls.

Sorry for being such a noob, but does this mean you just remove the word internet from the APN in Cellular data? or do you need to remove it from the MMS too?

    MMS is a different protocol.

you can leave the MMS settings intact.

basically anything coming in/out through the MMS protocol o2 know is a multimedia message, they won't charge you to receive MMS but will charge you to send (exact price depends on your price plan/tariff.)
