Disliking college

    :(

I'm in college in the west, originally from dublin and I can't stand it.
I like what I'm doing in the course itself but the majority of my course is mature (which i don't really mind but when I came here i hoped for people my own age and really make some friends)
I want to leave but I can't, since my parents paid for course and accommodation and just wouldn't understand how unhappy I am here.
I get on with my flat mate etc but things just arn't clicking here.
Since I am so unhappy I've began to avoid college making matters worse.
Any help or advice or anything really?

I don't know if this should be in personal issues or not.

I like what I'm doing in the course itself...

Being honest, I think you should consider yourself very lucky that you are enjoying what you are studying. There's a lot of people out there who are stuck in a course they hate, and can't get out for whatever reason.

I know you've probably heard people say this time and time again, but the best way to meet people in college is to join a society - be it political, common interest or a sport. It might be a bit daunting going to a group event on your own, but as soon as you strike up a conversation with someone, I'd say you'd be set!

Join a club or a society. They're great for meeting new people. :)

    Of course you can leave.
Don't be thinking you have to stick it out for your parents sake.

Its very possible you could have depression.
Have a chat with a counseller at the college , a gp there or your gp at home.

I wish somebody had told me this in first year in college & and that I wouldn't be still annoyed by it 10 years later !

Ah yes, the depression thing came up before, in fifth year i think and was sent to gp and i wouldnt open up to him.
College counseller might be a good idea.
