A mate of mine just fwded me on the email below. Good news. Can anyone confirm?
I am delighted to announce that Luttrellstown Golf and Country Club will remain open for 2010. This is great news for all golfers that enjoyed playing our beautiful facility during 2009 and before.

We will continue to offer very competitive rates for your groups and individual business. We have just made the announcement on the continued opening and the interest has been extremely positive .

If you wish to book your society or group and to confirm your preferred dates please do not hesitate to contact me.

    Kind regards

Don't know if it's true but delighted if it is. No mention on their website.

I'm actually not surprised by this. I wonder how the members will feel about such a move?

Mad! I spoke to the 'Chief Executive' last week and he said that they were absolutely, positively, definitely closing at the end of 2009.

I told him to look at the Luttrellstown thread on the Boards to see why that was a bad idea... who knows, maybe that was the deciding factor. Demand a free game and you'll find out for sure!

Anyone a reliable source on this? Am very surprised and more than a little sceptical.

A most enjoyable course. Good news if true though. Interesting to see if it is, then is it a short term reprieve or a a genuine relaunch. Would be very interested to know what membership might cost.

I can confirm that it will remain open, i spoke to a delighted staff member, it was only decided today or very recently, for that reason it isn't on their website yet. From what i can gather it is on a year on year basis for the time being, sorry i dont have a link

good marketing approach, say they've had a bumber last quarter
pity its a tactic that can only work once
its prob elm greens turn next year - old boy arnold's wage demands have simply spiralled out of control

It'son the IT website this morning.

    Great news.

Wonder what they'll charge for annual membership now, anything around the €1500 mark and i'd go for it

HAHAHA! Old boy Arnold! He’s a nice fella and decent teacher. From what I can gather pro's up there dont get a retainer and their income is generated from lessons. There's three pro's up there, how could they afford to give all three a retainer.

Doubt Elmgreen will be doing the same, they don’t need to, in the summer months I’d say there the busiest course in Dublin!

It is looking like approx €2750 + vat I received an email from them yesterday. Seems no coincidence that Castleknock fee is about the same though.

That's just madness! Green fees were available for under €40 for the last 6 months or more, don't know why anyone would pay nearly 3 grand to become a member... If they undercut Castleknock significantly, they'd be on to a real winner I reckon.

That's a lot of money considering that they've lost a lot of members and the future of the club is still up in the air. It's a pity

Do you reckon the green fees will be back on the way up then in the new year?

Am off my feet at the moment and would like to get out & try the course once I'm back mobile!!!

Why would anyone consider joing a club asscociated with Luttrelstown,I would say that there are a lot of previous members that now feel duped and failry pi ss ed off having left the club being told it's closing only to have this thrown back in their faces.

Have now added it to my "Must Play in 2010" list.

This is in the independent today, membership prices as I thought a little much for myself!

    http://www.independent.ie/sport/golf/luttrellstown-members-rejoice-over-late-reprieve-1960548.html

€2,750 plus VAT, think it comes to €3,300, the exact same price as Castleknock. Difficult to justify paying that every year for golf membership no matter how good the course. I would be suprised if anyone would pick Castleknock over Lutrellstown!

That's very expensive, i couldn't justify paying €3300 a year. I'd rather stick with paying normal subs of around €1100 a year which then leaves nearly €185 a month to play other courses throughout the year!

Indo article suggests that greenfees will remain at 30 for winter and 40-45 for the summer. That makes the membership very expensive in my opinion. Would need to play the course over 80 times just to break even.

I'm pretty sure the VAT rate is 13.5% not 21.5% on non-member owned golf club subs giving an annual sub of €3,121 for both clubs. Still hard to justify as you say but if anyone does decide to pull the trigger on it I'd be happy to accept a small percentage of the €200 I've just saved you.;)
