My iphoto seems to have disappeared from my mac?
Any ideas where it's gone and why?

Still there for me. There was an update the other day.

May seem a stupid question, but you didn't delete or move it, did you?

Did you add any software recently or delete or move anything? Look in your Thrash box and if it's not there then try and Spotlight iPhoto to see if it's just ran away from your dock; if it's still there then you should be safe :)

I lost a few things (Garageband for example) when I upgraded straight from Tiger to Snow Leopard on my Macbook. I just put it down to the Tiger/SL change.

    Could it be that?

Where are you looking for it? if you click on the spotlight serach icon on the top right of the screen (the magnifying glass) and search for iPhoto, does it then come up?

When you say it's not on your mac any more, do you mean its not on your dock, or you cant find it in your Applications Folder?
