Sister has had a good bit of trouble with hers. Fuel tank and electrics mainly.

Its a grand car but nothing special.

The Wife had a 98 and an 01 model and the only issue we ever had with either was the speedo went faulty one day, but fixed itself the following day.

Mother in law had a 98 model too until it was passed on to the Sister in Law. Timing belt went on that in 06 but it had never been changed and was well overdue (by time, not mileage). Only about €500 to fix the damage and put a new belt on.

Can't remember the mileage the belt is supposed to be done at, but I think it's 5 years so see if that's been done.

The wife has a 01 1.2 Clio and she's been very happy with it. Serviced regularly and driven with care and all going well.
It's quite a weak/sluggish car but damn comfortable as small cars go.
