Is anyone still watching Podge & Rodge?

Haven't watched since they reverted to the old style of interviewing guests! Had to admire them for trying a new format. Obviously it wasn't working but I don't think it was a good idea to go back -it just doesn't work without the Ballydung set. Where next for these two?!

A couple of years off, I would say, is the best they can hope for. If the two guys can devise an act that doesn't involve leering, bullying, misogyny and two hundred synonyms for ballsack, maybe someone in RTE will risk commissioning them again.

It's likely that Podge and Rodge as characters are dead. They have got worse with every incarnation, and I imagine even their fans will wish they had quit three years ago.

Not watched it in about 3 years. It's rubbish.

I'd say so, scare at bedtime was great, and even the first series of their chatshow thing was quite good, everything after that was rubbish though.

Caught it on line a few weeks ago since someone point out that they had shown the FAS ads in the newspaper.

Bad idea to do the quiz-com and now they have 4 Z-list celebs each week. It wouldn't be hard for RTÉ to go for something completely different at this stage.

After the first series they had scraped well below the barrell into the concrete.

Ratings of 140,000 for last weeks show.

That's down from around 450,000 back in 2006 though. Hard to believe there are still that many people watching it. It's got nothing going for it.

In terms of quality, I absolutely agree. In terms of The Times That Are In It (TM), I suppose it is at least cheap to produce.

But I would think they need significantly more than 140,000 to win another series, even if they all bring sandwiches. What do you think? Any idea what it would take to save them?

They've been crap since the 1st season of their chatshow ended, it was a formula that was bound to run thin and inevitably has.
A radical change would be needed for them to stay on TV.

The only thing the show has going for it is how cheap it is to produce (as mentioned above).

Used to look at the talkshow. Don't even check to see the guests now as they are usually the same - Chris De Burgh's daughter and the like.

I made the mistake of going to the "live" Vicar Street show. Even worse than the tv effort. The same joke over and over again. I cant get that 2 hours of my life back.
