Dead projector?

I've a Dell DLP projector that's about five years old. The lamp shuts down intermittently, the intensity is quite variable, and the colour wheel seems to be out of sync sometimes. Are all these problems related do you reckon? I'm wondering if one of the cooling fans has gone bad and is some way responsible for this. Or should I just junk the projector?

might be worth taking the cover off and cleaning out any dust.... reseating the lamp could help. Cleaning the colour wheel if there is access, but can be fragile so very light cleaning
