dell inspiron 1545 crap wireless range

    just bought a new dell inspiron 1545 and in wont pick up the wireless signal from my bedroom...the wireless router is down in the sitting room....my old dell inspiron witch is about 3 years old picks up full signal from my room..have dell just put a **** antenna in to this new laptop or can i do anything to sort this out...it does pick up the wireless out in the hall but its poor signal..anyone have any idea on this...............................................

    Check power saving is disabled on the wifi card in the 1545?

    I changed the antenna diversity to aux and it picked up signal and i disabled the power saving but it is still having connectivity problems.

    Any ideas?

    its worken now just outside my bedroom door second its on the bed it loses connection dont no wats going on...should i get a better wireless router

    If your old dell got a good signal, there's probably nothing wrong with the router. You might try changing the router antenna position.

    ya tryed that still same problem...its is picking up a signal but theres a yellow triangle sayen low connectivity..and again connects no problem out in the hall....thanks for the replies

    you might also try changing the channel the router uses, from its web interface. Sometimes microwaves or cordless phones can interfere with wifi

    yep tryed it dont make a difference

    are you aware of the WLAN Card and cables ?

    basically the card is on top of the mother board and there are 2 separate cables coming from it (it might be the same cable just different e.g positive and negative) and it goes around the laptop screen.

    its very easy for them to become loose or even accidentally fall out of their sockets.

    try plug them back in.

    no not aware off them..were bouts are they

    but it is connecting just outside the door so id sat them cables are ok its just when ya bring it in to the room it says limted or no connectivy...and the old inspiron is grand well able to pick it up every were...could i get a new wirless card for it or can ya even do that......thanks for the replies anyway

    yes it is very possible to upgrade the WLAN card.
