What are all your favourite symphonies?

I think for me it's Strauss' Alpine Symphony, really amazing.

The Poem of Ecstasy? Yeah, it is...it's amazing in fact! I just have reservations about numbering that and 'Prometheus' as symphonies, even though they are often called so...I think they are more symphonic poems, and almost anti-symphonic in a way.

Sorry, my Scriabin obsession is coming out again.

    Mahler 4 , 6 or 8.

    Beethoven 5, 7 or 9.

    Sibelius Anything.

    Shostakovich 1, 5 or 7.

We have to pick just one?!

    Brahms 1 or 4.
    Beethoven 7.
    Schubert 9.
    Gorecki 3.
    Berlioz Symphonie fantastique.

I can't get it any lower than 6 symphonies, and even at that I can't believe I had to leave out Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Saint Saens, Sibelius, Shostakovich...
