We have medical technology to prevent most premature deaths. We have easy access to food ,energy etc. Our understanding of the universe is expanding daily. Do you feel lucky to be alive now?

This may well be the peak of human civilisation. It's all downhill from here on in.

Then again, the Victorians were saying as much.

But we're about to enter into an age, where all fossil fuels have been used up, so the basis of our economy will be gone and the world will fall apart. Gimme Roman times, I woulda loved to be there!

Once all the oil dries up and so on, I fully intend to place a bullet squarely in my own temple. Unless we find more or an alternate energy source crops up or something...

Until then, I'm living life as I want it and I'm enjoying it!

I think of it as being more grateful than happy. Like beating the odds. It's always hard to be completely happy when you know how bad it is for so many millions of others.

    Yep.

Didnt every age think it was the peak of civilisation though?

I think since we all still have to work (alot of us in jobs we hate) to keep food in our bellies and a roof over our heads, is indication enough this isnt a great time for humanity! I think once we live in a utopia like that of Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek where theres no money, and everyone just strives to better themselves through education and philantropy, then we will truely be at a plateau of human existence.

Well I don't know whats gonna happen in the future but defiantly wouldn't wanna be in any age before now.

A 100% cure for cancer in a swallow able pill would be nice doh.

I dunno, the 60's seemed like a great time to be young, maybe not in this country though.

We may be have medical technology but the vast amount of it used to reverse illness that we have created. Man has destroyed and poisened the planet more in the last 100 years than in any other time in it's history.

This time on earth is the calm before the storm. WE are lucky to be living in this part, that much is true but our grandkids are f**ked.

We've all been led by Back to the future 2 to believe we'd have hover-boards and inflatable jackets... but we don't! ... and we're slowly realizing that... and we're very, very pissed off.
