Not a member of RNLI and don't mean to be hi jacking the thread but would be interested to hear more about the service. IMO it doesn't get the attention it derserves. So come on...take the stage and tell us all about it and give us a few piccies as well!

    Keep up the good work...;)

    Hi,
I'm not a member either, but am interested in becoming a member (crew member).
I wear glasses/contact lenses. Is that an issue? I'm 38; too old? I live about 20 mins from the lifeboat launch. Too far? I work long hours so am not always available. How do you work around that?
I hope you don't mind the questions.

great service, very professional and not nearly enough credit for the work they do, probally the toughest job in the emergency services when the crap hits the fan with the conditions they have to work in to save lives.

They say to be within 3 miles of the station If your intrested,
    (Not sure about other stations)
It depends what kind of boat the station has for retirement age.
Best thing to do would be to find out when the training nights are on and pop along and see what its all about.
Theres plenty of shore work to be done too.
