Hoping to build a reasonably substantial Workshop / Garden shed in the near future - general idea is a 6 inch slab powerfloated with fabricated steel beams forming portals at 16 foot centres - purlins from 5 x 3 or 6x4 timber - blocks up to maybe 4 foot - clad then with roll formed steel

trying to get an idea on cost at the moment and need some advice on what size steel to plan on using - shed will be 9 metres wide x 15 metres long -

can anyone advise on the appropriate size of streel section to fabricate the portals from ?

This will have to be designed, because portal frames are a complex structure. you are bring me back to college now:P.

Specifying the size of structural elements is in breach of the charter so to avoid the risk of anyone getting a ban I am locking this.
