Hey all, I'm planning on cycling down to Enniscorthy tomorrow from Naas (flooding permitting) and was wondering which is the lesser evil - the N9 or N81? Anyone got any experience on either?

I would say the N81, it is OK for an N road. The N9 I vaguely recall as being a nightmare.

If you look at Google Maps walking directions you can see there is a route that avoids N roads entirely while not being any longer.

You should have a nice tail wind. The wind is coming from the N and NW today and the wind forecast is the same for tomorrow.

Explains why I felt like so strong coming to work.

Cheers for that - wonder when Google maps cycling directions is coming out :)

That route looks about 10kms shorter than the N routes too.

Just bear in mind that they tend to be hillier than N roads, as long as you accept that from the start!

Yep, hillier and poorer quality, but I'll chance it :)
