Yes - the careers office offer this service for free and you can just drop in any time - all the info is here http://www.ucc.ie/careers/contact.php.

Their service is also useless(in my experience)

Be prepared to be asked questions by people who make the old drunk you
had for career guidance in secondary school look like a guru.

    Very, very frustrating experience

I havent found them that bad, the only frustrating thing i found about them was that if you go to one person and change your cv to suit them, you could go to a different councillor a month later and they'll tell you some of the changes that you were told to make are bad, leaving you totally confused. It happened to me.

Another example was when I was going for placement they sent us out a sample cv, and while most of the class made their cv according to this, I didnt as I had already done mineby dropping into them and doing it with them, and I was told "that i have less of a chance of getting an interview, as my cv looked different to everyone elses."

I had the same difficulties. Everytime I went down there I was being told to do something different. Its like they have no standard practice and as for tailoring your CV to suit each individual job, forget it. The planks I dealt with all said to have the same CV for every job. Of course everyone of them wanted you structure it a different way.

Less chance of getting an interview with a different CV :pac::pac: are they taking the piss? Of the three women I spoke with I dont think 2 of them had ever worked elsewhere and done any interviews themselves.

As always everything you need is on boards :

I found the people on the above ultra helpful and more importantly very professional.
