Any TAS Books Basic users out there?

I've been using above for about 6 mths and find it ok, given my phobia about DE accounting, I'm pleased with it - it hides most of the complicated stuff!
I'd be interested in hearing fom other users, especially sole traders, as I feel I'm not getting all I should from the software. I'm just recording income, expenditure and bills (its a retail business).
For instance, are there any daily/weekly/monthly reports I could be using to keep tabs on progress? - P&L can only be done annually by closing year, as far as I understand.
Are there any books available for other Tas programs? - I wouldn't upgrade without having a real manual to study in advance.
Any info available would be much appreciated.
    Gary

    Hi Gary

I use Tas books 1 in work, is that the one you talking about. I find it quite an easy system to navigate. The reports I tend to print off are montly so Im not sure if weekly is possible. If you go into the accountants section and highlight the report you want eg trial balance, balance sheet you will need to change the month on the report to the month you want. If you want to pm me with particular questions you have I ll try to help if I can.

TBB appears to be a cut down version of TB1 - lots of options are preset and non configureable - but as its free, I can't complain!
Sadly, the help file is pretty basic - not helped by my lack of basic accounting knowledge......

    Hi Gary,

I do a clients books on TAS Basic (I have also bought TAS 2 as I needed a multi client software). PM me the kind of reports you think you might need and I will see if they are possible- and I'll PM you back how to produce them. Most reports can be produced per year, per month or for a range of dates. So you can look at monthly bank transactions, weekly sales/debtors/creditors/vat/expenses...... It might be basic but I have found it just as good as the software I have paid for.

Tas basics would be a very cut down version of the Tas range of products. It was a free product in the Tas range that was available to Irish customers until the end of 2011.

The next step up from Tas Basics would be Tas Firstbooks. This product would have the same layout to what you are used to in Basics and also would include extra features such as being able to create, print and post an invoice. You can also have a multi company licence in Firstbooks if you wanted to do accounts for more than one company.

The next product up in the range is Tas Books. This has a different layout to Firstbooks and it would include more high level features such as more detailed reporting, departmental analysis, project costing, dual currency, aged debt management and more. There is also a stock module and a multi user module that you can add on if need be.

You can migrate all of your data (static and transactional) from Tas Basics to Tas Firstbooks or Tas Books very easily.

No problem - great to hear you got sorted.

Gary I just wanted to add for you - you should not have to close off your year to run your P & L you should be able to just run that report at any time in Tas Basics
