Not sure if many would know this guy, the founder of Quinnsworth group and the "Yellow pack" brand. He was also director of the failed Pat Quinn club which incidentally is on the same ground as O'Regans debunked enterprise in Kiltiernan which will cost us all dearly through Nama.

He moved out of the country to Canada where he opened a few restaurants and pubs. He was also known over there.

I met him a few times through his son Bernard who was in my class in secondary school.

He was quite a legend of a man, way before his time certainly in an Irish context anyhow. He was a very well respected man in Leitrim and far beyond. Not a lot of people knew who he was but certainly anyone of an older generation would. RIP.

I can remember Pat dropping Bernard into the school yard by helicopter as a publicity stunt. This was back in the early 70ies when such a stunt would have been far and few between.

On another instant we had an Honors maths teacher rightly named "Brutus". An arrogant condescending idiot who drove a P6 V8 Rover and would chastise anyone who went near it. He was also a part time butcher with several chains across the city.

The day after the Kiltiernan Pat Quinn club collapsed Brutus pointed down at Bernard at the back of the class and said "Your father will be soon sweeping the streets". The following day the Brutus got the sack and that was the end of him. :)
