Irish Rail - One Disaster After Another

serious delays on the trains from dublin to waterford today and from speaking to people that spent almost 6hours on the 11am service they were of the opinion that there was no apology from irish rail for any of the inconvenience!

This serious delay was apparently caused by some signal fault but instead of getting everyone to their destination by bus which would have been acceptable the incompetants in the national railway service decided to wait and wait and go on to the next station then wait some more before they got the problem fixed 5hours later and delivered the cold hungry passengers to their destination without as much as a complimentary cup of tea or refund for such an awful journey!

The sooner these cowboy operators are fully privatised and made to work for their pay the better it will be for transport throughout ireland!

You should be entitled to a refund. Ask for a refund form at any station.

quick update on this the 18:25 train is not running, bus transfers to killenny lol what a wonderful service! There was no notification of this until after 6pm when it was too late to get over to the bus station for the half five bus! Will have to suffer the old worn out bus that irish rail deem appropriate now for their passengers.

Yeah I noticed the 11:30 from Heuston roll into Waterford at 16:30...roll on the M9. And the fact they keep the refunds on the quiet does the company no favours at all.

You will be glad to know it did get a token mention on their facebook page...they seem to be answering a few complaints there as well by the looks of it. Might be worth a rant there.

they kept everything on the quiet! there was no information coming from irish rail until it was too late to make alternative arrangements and the bus transfer was a nightmare! the bus had poor suspension and kept rocking from side to side on the road and had at least one broken window with several other windows having water trapped between the double glazing! an absolute disgrace of a company!

there was a small notice on the irish rail website earlier yesterday but this was replaced with no information at all! there was not even a notice for intending passengers in the station in waterford!
