Opinions on which second hand car is better...

I'm still looking at cars and have narrowed it down (well lost the will to keep looking) and decided on one of two cars

2002 Suzuki Liana :approx 100,000m, 1.6 petrol, v good condition, nct 06/10, tax 02/10. asking price €2k. Looked on carzone and asking prices are around €4k for similar but not a lot advertised.

    2000 Ford Focus; 111,000m, 1.4 petrol, v good condition, nct 08/10, asking price €2,950, negotiated to €2,400.

I'd prefer the focus most probably because (and forgive my shallowness here) it looks nicer! That said we want a car that will be reliable for a year or two and we can then trade it.

I'm interested in opinions on which would be better in terms of reliablility and resale.

I'd say the Focus, Also I'd say to stop looking on carzone, for anything. Either of them are worth just under two thousand euro.

Defo get Focus, Suzuki Liana is for old people and total rubbish in comparison to the excellent Ford Focus - a proper car.

Out of those two the focus would be my choice, although the 1.4 isn't a great engine in it, but it should be fine.

    Yeah, that's what I thought!

I'd prefer a 1.6 myself but honestly, I just want a car at this stage.

It's sh1t being without a car where I live. Mon - Fri is fine but you really miss it at the weekend especially if you need to go somewhere that isn't in the city centre.

I wouldn't be inclined to put too much pass on the prices of cars advertised on Carzone How Strange, especially in the price bracket of what you intend to spend. Would recommed donedeal.ie or gumtree before carzone.

I've seen it mentioned here that typically carzone or cbg etc sellers typically overprice by ~15%. To ask for almost 3k for a 10 year old car with 110k on it is quite hopeful to put it nicely.
