I watched this programme about depression in sport on BBC earlier presented by Gabby Logan (who I cant stand but she was good on this)
I think it is good to hear the likes of Neil Lennon, Frank Bruno, Kelly Holmes and others speak of their own experiences of depression. It also paid reference to boxer Darren Sutherland and goal keeper Robert Enke who sadly committed suicide recently.
Hopefully it will help some people suffering to seek help or just offer some comfort that they are not alone.

I missed the beginning. Just wondering if anyone else saw it? And what did you think? I'd like to see it repeated all I can find on the web is this which doesn't allow me to view the player.

Inside Sport tackles the taboo issue of mental illness, and explores the dark side of sporting fame and fortune. Marcus Trescothick, Kelly Holmes, Frank Bruno, Paul Gascoigne and Neil Lennon are just some of the big names who have been hit by depression in recent years.

Gabby Logan examines the stigma that still surrounds mental health issues, and asks whether we ask too much of our sporting heroes. Featuring Ashes winner Trescothick, former heavyweight champion Bruno, Celtic icon Lennon and All Black legend John Kirwan. Broadcast on:BBC One, 1:00pm Saturday 28th November 2009Duration:45 minutesAvailable until: 1:39pm Saturday 5th December 2009
Here's a good summary of the programme http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/tv_and_radio/inside_sport/8358351.stm

I thought it was an interesting programme, thought they clutched at straws a bit with Serena Williams but everyone else has genuinely had/has depressive illness. Glad Trescothik is finally using the word depression rather than "a stress related illness" which they were using before.

I don't like Gabby Logan either, but she wasn't too intrusive in this. A worthwhile subject shown at a reasonable time, hopefully some people who usually just watch sport on a Saturday afternoon will have watched this.

Channel hopping at 5:30am Sunday morning, and this program appears.

I thought it was a good program overall, for famous people to admit they have a mental illness problem is excellent in terms of being able to help other fellow sufferers, of which I am one (no, not a famous person, just the stigma related illness bit).

Well done to all concerned is my view. And nice to see that the big guy with a penchant for 'arry is doing well.
