I am going to build an old fashioned set of Open pro/Ultegra wheels over the winter but I am finding a problem sourcing spokes. Anyone got a suss on buying the right amount of spokes for a sensible price. (Some places price em per spoke which gets expensive. The only alternative I can find is priced per box of 100 same length.)

    I need 70 ish spokes in 3 (I think) different lengths.Anybody??

MTB ie short traditional spokes only. Last time I checked. I think short spokes are more commonly available 'cos mtbs use traditional cross lace wheels more nowadays.

Cheers for all the replies lads.I don't think I'll bother with Google anymore.I'll just post on here instead.:)

I recently had a problem sourcing cheap spokes to re-build a rear wheel for an old commuter i have. I went into Kieran Byrne (think that's his name) in temple bar and he sold me 36 spokes and nipples all for €7 euro!

It was a rear wheel i was building, so i needed two diffent sized spokes. I just brought in a sample spoke form both the drive side and non-drive side of the old wheel and he matched them up with new spokes.

It was the first wheel i ever built and it was a complete success:)

I live in the wilds of Cork so not an option for me. Thanks anyway ciarsciars.
I have sorted my spokes now so cheers to all who posted.
